Self Portrait Project:
Project Reflection!
Art criticism is often vital to the final piece, however when it starts to limit the creativity or vision of the artist it is not helpful. Often times constructive criticism is very helpful to an artist and can build upon their original ideas and create a more refined impactful piece. On the flip side of this criticism can often cross the line and become detrimental to the work, criticism should aim to help the artist not tear them down.
I personally hit a roadblock when creating my self portrait and my final piece I do not believe is a proper reflection of myself. However creatively I decided to change the lighting effects and created my own ellipse. By changing the lighting I formed my whole idea for the final piece. I think that through the creative process many truly find out a lot more about themselves. In the future I would like to remake my self portrait to fit more to myself however I am happy with the creative piece I ended up with. A lot of problem solving skills are included in making a self portrait however I think a lot of them come from within when finding oneself.

Teacher Creature Project:
Our Project Objectives: Envision and Critique to reflect. Recognize, demonstrate, and debate philosophic arguments about the nature of art and beauty (aesthetics).
PROJECT REFLECTION-
This project was originally completed in its basic form during freshman year Digital Arts, the basic project included inputting a teacher into an image created with a predetermined amount of separate images. While this was the basis for the project this year in Advanced Digital Arts we took the basics with a spin. We used multiple different images compiled together using different tools and effects in Photoshop to create a higher level refined piece. I chose to create a piece with a whale jumping out of a mountain lake including a few other out of place creatures. For my project I had to create my own water effects using other images as well as editing in a sunset to change the time of day and effect of the finished product. I used a total of ten different images and am very proud of the finished product.
The hardest part of the project for me was getting started. I hit a wall where I could not find my creativity to figure out what I wanted to do. However once I had my idea and I got started things began to flow much easier. After that the hardest part for me was using different images to work with lighting and shading as I chose to make my piece in black and white. While this was hard my favorite part of making this was the water effects. While I used ten images one of them was split in half to include the sunset itself and the water that was also present in the image, using those ripples for the lake I was able to also utilize the light from the original image. While I was still unable to perfect the lighting and its direction as well as the foreground and background I am still very happy with the work I have done for this piece.
