Encyclopedia Project :
Through this project I have learned that mathematics is much more intertwined than I thought. Linear programming uses multiple different linear functions combined to find a solution. I have realized that multiple different equations can be used together in more ways than I knew. I also learned that mathematics is used in a lot of professions that I never would have guessed. Throughout the project I talked to my parents a lot as they are business owners and it opened my eyes as to how much they use math in their daily lives running the restaurant and theatre.
I have learned that as a student that I need to continue working on managing my time better. Throughout the project I kept putting things off thinking I had more time and then ended up rushing to finish things. I also learned that I need to better communicate with my teachers about how I am doing and what I need help on or what I don't understand. Furthermore as a student I have realized that I do not do very well on projects without more structure and I need to work on being more independent in my work.
For the exhibition I will have to come up with a way to present my learning and the project itself. I need to come up with a form of presentation to show the project and a sort of elevator speech to convey the knowledge I have gained in a concise way. I want to find a way to use color to make my project eye catching and exciting to hear about.
Throughout this project I learned a lot about Linear Programming as well as some things about myself as a student. I had never heard of Linear Programming before this project and I was shocked by how much it is used in so many different professions. I learned that even my parents use it in running their business and how useful it really is. As a student I learned that I really need to push myself to be more self motivated, I also learned that I need to work on not blaming others for my mistakes. I was very frustrated with the formatting of the project and I realized that I need to push past that and do the work that I needed too. By pushing myself through this project I also became a better researcher which is a skill I can use throughout my life. If I were to go back and re-do the project I would have worked harder in the beginning and not put it off, a lot of my work in the beginning was rushed and even late because I kept telling myself that I had more time than I did. I would also have a more open mind about what the teacher was telling me I had to improve on. If I were to improve the encyclopedia I would add more information about the definition of Linear Programming as well as adding more in depth skills needed. Overall I learned a lot through this project and though I didn’t enjoy it much I gained a lot of useful skills.
If I were to exhibit my project again I would include more of an interactive presentation for my viewers. I would try to get people more engaged in what I was presenting, at exhibition it was hard to explain what exactly my subject was and I would like to find a better way to do that.
My biggest strength going into new math classes is note taking. I write really detailed notes and it helps me a lot to do homework and understand the math. My biggest weakness is procrastination, I put things off a lot and I'm working to fix that.

Final Exam Project :
The last project was the Final Exam Project. For this project we had to create ten algebraic problems with solutions to create our class final exam. These ten problems consisted of all the different sections we have learned throughout this semester with 3 problems each with a range of Easy, Medium, and Hard. The project was daunting when we first started however once I started working it ended up being a lot easier than I expected. Although I kind of wish there was more of a challenge I was happy that the material came easy to me as I have never been very good at math. The project ended up giving me a lot of confidence in my knowledge and it definitely allowed me to keep my stress level lower approaching the exam.
For the upcoming exam I plan to study using the study guide our teacher Effi is providing us with. Along with this I plan to review my comp book and notes to help me remember the material we have learned and studied this semester. I'm very nervous as this is my first official final and I plan to study very hard.
This semester has gone really well for me in Algebra 2, last year in math was a struggle for me so I am very happy that this year has gone so smoothly in this class for me so far. My strength has been my note taking skills that I have from other classes that have allowed me to look back on my comp book when I need to and better understand the material. My weakness this semester has been that I missed almost two weeks due to being sick and therefore missed what we learned in this class and it was hard for me to catch up. However I put a lot of effort in and I was able to catch up. Overall this first semester of Algebra 2 went really well for me and I learned a lot.
